Background and Challenges
Logan graduated from a University with a Master’s degree in Computer Software and Theory. Despite having a strong academic foundation in the field, his GPA fell short of the requirements for FDU (Vancouver)’s Master of Science in Applied Computer Science program. Initially, this gap presented a significant obstacle, making the chances of securing admission appear slim.

Find highlight and turn it into strength
What set Logan apart, however, was his extensive professional background. By the time of his application, he had accumulated over a decade of experience as a Software Engineer, working on numerous impactful projects within the computer science industry. Recognizing the immense value of his practical expertise, we strategically emphasized this aspect in his application.
We meticulously prepared a comprehensive set of application materials, highlighting his professional achievements and providing extensive documentation of his past work experiences and project contributions. This included detailed proof of employment and project-related records, showcasing his technical proficiency and long-term commitment to the field.
Overcoming language obstacle & Outcome
Thanks to a well-crafted application and the strength of his professional experience, Logan received a conditional offer from FDU (Vancouver) for their Master of Science in Applied Computer Science program.
Prior to submitting his application, Logan had taken the IELTS exam multiple times but struggled to achieve his target score. Recognizing the importance of meeting language requirements, we recommended the University Pathway Program at the International Language Academy of Canada (ILAC). While preparing his application materials, Logan diligently attended ILAC’s online courses to improve his English proficiency. His efforts paid off when, shortly after receiving FDU’s conditional admission, he successfully completed the program, earning the PW3.4 Certificate and transcript—fulfilling the university’s language condition and converting his offer into unconditional admission.
In January 2023, Logan officially enrolled in the program, beginning an exciting new chapter in his academic and professional journey.
Final Thoughts
Logan’s case underscores how strategic planning and leveraging professional experience can overcome academic gaps. His journey proves that persistence and a well-presented profile can turn challenges into opportunities.
